Our mission statement..
The core of our work is the fact that it's Alive. We work with creative individuals from the region to develop and produce work which resonates with the local audience giving them a new experience of theatre.
We like our work to use the “local voice” to tell wonderful stories and let local writers use our colorful and mixed dialect to energize the lives of their characters. These characters – no matter how real or surreal – can then be put in to any situation and still resonate with our audiences. We like to bring these characters to life with actors who want to try and breathe life into these new individuals and who embrace the creative challenge of working on new writing.
Ilkeston is one of the larger towns within Erewash Borough, Derbyshire. The town and surrounding area is rich with history, stories, and characters and is a hot bed of creative individuals who want to work locally. This mixed with the evolving life of the former mining industry, makes the area very exciting and dangerous as we don't now what will happen. The best art comes from places of change where creative energy is channeled into re-developing something and currently that redevelopment is brimming with potential.
